Thing To Use Today: grammar.
Well, we can't do without it, can we?
The word grammar comes from the Greek word grammatikos which means concerning letters.
I attended a language course once and the teacher proudly announced that fluency in a language need only 500 words. Afterward, some of the other students were amazed by this, and obviously highly motivated at how easy fluency was to attain. I think I dampened their zeal a little by pointing out that knowing 500 words is the easy part - it's in putting them into the correct order that it all starts to get tricky.
