This blog is for everyone who uses words.

The ordinary-sized words are for everyone, but the big ones are especially for children.

Saturday Rave: A Silly Poem by Spike Milligan.

The scientists now tell us that everyone, however old, keeps growing new brain cells as long as they keep learning things.

So here's a poem by Spike Milligan to learn off by heart:

Said Hamlet to Ophelia,
I'll draw a sketch of thee,
What kind of pencil shall I use?
2B or not 2B?

Not only will learning this great work cause you to sprout a couple of extra brain cells, but, as laughter is supposed to be the best medicine, it might even cure that slight mouth ulcer, too.

I wonder if a more substantial work, like The Code of the Woosters, can be demonstrated to have an effect on the common cold?

Word To Use Today: cell. This word is the same as a monk's cell, and before that used to mean room or storeroom. It's related to the Latin word cēlāre, to hide.
