This blog is for everyone who uses words.

The ordinary-sized words are for everyone, but the big ones are especially for children.

Sunday Rest: triboelectricity. Word Not To Use Today.

Triboelectricity is not a scheme to bring power to remote communities, and, this being the case, the word is not usable on any occasion that I can possibly imagine.

Word Not To Use Today: triboelectricity. Triboelectricity is static electricity generated by friction. The tribo- bit comes from the Greek tribein, to rub. The electricity bit is to do with rubbing, too, because the Greek word ēlektron means amber, which when rubbed becomes charged with static electricity.
